entertain me -- derby day party.

COVETING: Madewell Chambray Sunstitch Tunic Dress; $148
This pretty little chambray dress from Madewell has run away with my heart. I love the simple cut, the unique take on a V-neck, and the short, straight sleeves. The dropped waist and gathered skirt are feminine but not fussy (perfect for hot weather), and I think that this frock would be absolutely ideal paired with chunky wedges or flat sandals and a big tote. Bonus points if you're cool enough to rock a fedora.

Although I went to college where heading down for the Derby was de rigeur for seniors, last year's thunderstorms kept me away. I've always been fascinated by the culture, though: the hats, the horses, the dresses. And, you know, there's lots of bourbon, too. And southern food. All of this sounds like the perfect excuse to throw a spring soiree, if you ask me. So pull on a pastel sundress, grab a bowtie, and forget your hat!

{Old-school lawn games like cornholes and horseshoes make for the perfect entertainment}

mint julep
{This basic mint julep recipe is simple, and there are plenty of fun variations for those who prefer twists on the classic}

{Festive & Elegant} Kentucky Derby® Garden Party
{Horseshoe-adorned decor is cute but stops short of kitschy when used sparingly}

Kentucky Derby Pie Cupcakes
{It isn't a party without cake, and these Kentucky Derby Pie Cupcakes are just the ticket}

Are YOU celebrating the Derby this weekend?
