COVETING: Gee Wawa Emily Oxfords
I love a great menswear-inspired style, and oxfords are the perfect way to go about getting that boy-meets-girl look without anyone mistaking you for an unfortunate reincarnation of Diane Keaton in Annie Hall. This metallic pair is just shimmery enough to denote a special occasion, and I love the toes in a contrasting color. Perfect with sweet little holiday dresses or a simple pair of skinny jeans.
I've been on the fence about brocade for awhile. It can so easily seem old-fashioned and stuffy (and incredibly reminiscent of curtains), but at the same time, it's classic and ornate and shiny... Meaning it's perfect for cold-weather months, since the texture and pattern make for a slightly heavier fabric, and it looks nice and dressy for the holidays, especially in a gilded metallic (see above). I'm a big fan of the brocade pant, paired with pumps and a sleek jacket for a new twist on party attire, but I think that a brocade pencil skirt can also be the perfect accompaniment to a crisp blouse and booties for the office.
Wishing you all a happy Monday -- what's inspiring YOU today?
