COVETING: Girl by Band of Outsiders Smocked Charmeuse Blouse in Black Sea (also in Grey)
I love a great blouse -- but my criteria are specific for a top to earn that moniker. It needs to be feminine and floaty without totally lacking structure. It must be soft but not too flimsy. And a pretty color is a definite bonus. This Girl by Band of Outsiders piece is perfection; the blue shade is so chic, the smocking at the waist adds a little definition, and it would pair as nicely with dark denim as with a sleek suit.
It's no secret that I love brands that promote good causes, and Lemlem is a new one to me. Founded by model Liya Kebede in 2007, this line features pieces made by weavers in Ethiopia, her native country, and promotes economic growth and independence for workers in the region. The pieces, from women's and children's clothing to homegoods, all have a great unique, handcrafted feel that makes for the perfect gift or a piece that feels special to purchase for yourself.
Lemlem Zoza Blanket in Orange (also in Blue)
I'm constantly cold, and I love keeping light blankets around the house to toss over myself whenever a chill strikes. This one would be perfect for such occasions. The bright stripes are so cheery, and I think that this would make the perfect addition to the foot of a bed or slung over the back of a couch.
Lemlem Lila Mini in Pink (also in Grey)
I absolutely adore the bright, punchy colors of this skirt. The wide stripes are so bold and graphic, and every bold hue under the sun is present here. It's the perfect light piece for running errands on sunny days or tossing over a bathing suit post-beach.
This pretty striped scarf is actually two different scarves sewn together, with a split for your head, a shape which is so clever. I love all three shades and think that this would be a fantastic gift to give just about anyone as a simple addition to elevate even the most basic look.
www.lemlem.com; $340These cute cotton oxfords are just to die for. I love the laceless look; it's so relaxed and would pair perfectly with denim cutoffs or boyfriend jeans. And the stripes at the toe are darling; they keep the look of the shoe clean and fresh rather than dull and sloppy.
