ATTAINABLE: Free People Penelope Slip in Cranberry (also in Grey and Blush)
www.freepeople.com; $68
Right now, I'm loving the notion of light, flirty pieces mixed with heavier ones to stay warm. This Free People skirt is the perfect candidate to fuel my obsession. I love the pretty cranberry color for fall, and it's so delicate. I think that a chunky cardigan and sparkly statement necklace or a pair of cream cable-knit tights and boots would be a fabulous way to toughen this piece up a bit while maintaining its utter femininity.
There's something about the color purple -- it's so regal and flattering for so many skin tones, but for some reason, I have very little of it in my wardrobe. With its immense popularity on runways this fall, I've decided that this needs to change -- immediately. From sweaters to pumps and dresses to denim, purple is everywhere, and in a variety of hues ranging from lavender to the deepest of eggplants. I'm sure that I'll find the perfect pieces to add a pop of purple to my wardrobe soon; until then, the below pieces are exactly where I want to start.
Anthropologie Euchre Jersey Dress in Wine (also in Dark Grey)
www.anthropologie.com; $148
I find the soft purple hue of this dress so appealing -- though it's described as "wine," I think it's far less harsh. I love that it's jersey (doesn't get more comfortable than that) and the draping is absolutely phenomenal -- a fantastic way to elevate the dress and add extra interest. It would pair beautifully with a pair of chocolate-brown tights and caramel-colored booties.
Hudson Jeans Krista Super Skinny Velvet
www.revolveclothing.com; $183
I'm completely smitten with these eggplant-hued skinny jeans. I cannot express how much I love that they're made of velvet -- it's such a rich texture for fall and would add a completely new dimension to my wardrobe. With a simple pair of flats and a favorite button-down or cardigan, I'm convinced that these would breathe new life into my already-existing wardrobe.
Confidence & Chance Mixed Stitch Classic Cardigan in Purple (also in Black, Blue, Ivory, Taupe, and Olive)
www.urbanoutfitters.com; $69
The epitome of a cozy, chunky cardigan, this pretty sweater is the perfect classic for chilly days. I love the bold, bright purple shade, and the shawl collar and mixed-stitch pattern are simply genius. This would mix perfectly with my favorite jeans for a simple weekend look or a flirty lace skirt for a night out.
Diane von Furstenberg Renee Platform Pumps in Aubergine (also in Honey, Royal Blue, and Black)
www.shopbop.com; $278
These soft, pretty suede pumps are nothing short of purple perfection. The heel height is perfect, and I love the slightly-exaggerated platform. They're classic but not boring, and the aubergine shade is absolutely to die for. These would be incredible with a sparkly cocktail dress or paired with a pencil skirt for day.
How are YOU wearing purple this fall?
xo Josie

Hi I love the idea of mixing up fabric textures, I haven't got to purple yet apart from a suede belt that I love wearing with metalics.x
Purple and Burgundy are definitely the colors of the season. THey look great on all complexions. I love the skirt from Free People.
Oh I need that chunky cardigan! It's cold here today and that would be useful - and cute :)
This is so perfect because I just wore shades of purple this weekend! I've been obsessed with burgundy and plum. I really do think it looks great on practically everyone! I love the chunky cardigan :)

This year my wardrobe has seen a big increase in purple items. It's quickly become a favorite of mine (and helps since the beau went to Clemson!)
I've got a great purple shrug I'm obsessed with.
