H&M Jacket in Khaki Green (also in Camel, Dark Grey, and Black)
I never thought about anoraks. In the world of trenches, peacoats, leather, and motorcycle jackets, it's like they just slipped my mind. Ever since my adorable blog buddy Chelsea featured this one, though, I haven't been able to get them out of my head. It's as if I just let this huge gap exist in my outerwear wardrobe for so long, and I'm desperate to make up for it. I absolutely adore the casual, sporty shape and army-green hue, and the fur around the hood is nothing short of brilliant for keeping toasty when autumn winds start blowing.
I don't think that I've worn a pair of Mary Janes since kindergarten -- and with good reason. Ankle straps can be unflattering, lug soles drag down my 5'3" frame, and shiny red plastic just doesn't hold the same allure as it did fifteen years ago. But this season's gorgeous ankle-strap-adorned pumps may just be what I need to change my mind. I love the pretty fall hues that they come in and the rich textures are perfect for cool-weather-wear. They're too pretty to be covered by jeans, of course, but I can't imagine a better companion for pencil skirts and cocktail dresses this season.
Pour La Victoire Turner Shoe in Black (also in Burgundy)
I adore these kicked-up classic black pumps. The pointed toe elongates the leg, a necessity whe nyou have an ankle strap cutting off a lean line. The soft suede is perfect for fall, and the patent strap and glossy heel provide a fabulous contrast for a look that would be amazing with a fall-hued pencil skirt.
For a fun twist on the ankle-strap heel, these classic ankle booties are adorned with a sweet little strap and buckle. I love that the strap coordinates with the patent on the heel and am convinced that these would be absolutely perfect with a pair of opaque tights and a sweater dress or a pair of tucked-in denim leggings or super skinny jeans.
There's something about these pumps that is absolutely impossible for me to deny. It could be the killer burgundy hue (one of my favorite fall colors), the supersoft velvety suede that feels so rich and luxurious, or the substantial platform and heel. Or it may be my favorite feature: the ankle strap is removable, making these pumps wearable with every single one of your favorite fall looks.
If you're looking to make a true statement with your ankle-strap heels, this is the pair for you. I love that the bold ankle cuff and zipper make the entire shoe feel tough, but the delicate heel and pointed toe are ladylike rather than bike-gang-esque. With tights or bare legs, these are sure to draw all the right kinds of attention.
Are YOU wearing ankle-strap heels this fall?
