ATTAINABLE: Modern Fairytale Colorblock Dress
www.lulus.com; $53
I. Love. Colorblocking. I realize it's not a particularly new or revolutionary trend, but I just find it so chic and flattering. And in a fun, modern shape like this, I'm totally smitten. I love the contrast in hue, fabric, and, most of all, attitude between the fitted bodice and filmy skirt. And although I tend to be intimidated by cutouts in dresses, these sweet side ones are just subtley sexy enough to attract the right kind of attention.

I'm a big fan of dressing appropriately for the occasion -- and when it comes to holidays, that means wearing something just special enough to denote a special day without looking as if I've just popped off a Hallmark card. When Valentine's Day rolls around, it's easy to fall into a trap of cheesy red-and-pink-heart overload, but I'm convinced that there's a far more sophisticated way to celebrate. Luckily, there are plenty of fabulous options out there: pretty cream lace tops, gold jewelry with subtle heart themes, soft makeup, and sweet, flirty pink dresses. How utterly romantic.
What will YOU be wearing for Valentine's Day this year?

I feel like I have been crushing on that heart sweater for ages.
I'll be celebrating Valentines on the 11th, It's our engagement anniversary so why not combine the 2 :) I think I'm going to wear a blue and nude lace dress but these beautiful red's and pinks have made me rethink! :)
Love, Vanilla
Still not sure what I want to wear but this post definitely gives me a lot of inspiration!

Love the red...but I'll probably be in my pj's eating lobster..at home.
When it comes to Valentines Day.... I have NO clue! But I love that 2nd red dress! It's gorgeous! You can never go wrong with classic red!
Colorblocking is seriously one of my favorite things right now. I especially love the way brights pinks, oranges, and reds look together. And, of course, reds and purples. Gorg! :)
Still haven't planned out that far - I'm just thankful to have my Valentine each year no matter what I wear:)

Love these! I guess it depends on what we end up doing :)
OK, since my belly does not allow lots of fancy options, Im gonna go for a lovely home-made candlelight dinner while wearing a fabulous and super fashionalble PJ. LOL!!!!
i am obsessed with the cutouts!

That middle dress is divine! I have a couple of red dresses I might choose from to wear this year.
beautiful choices!so lovely and romantic indeed :)
I agree Josie, although it's easy to get suckered into wearing something that feels like a costume for V day, I think there's a prettier way to do it! I already have my TWO outfits planned (something for Valentine's dinner on Tuesday night, the other for a night away that following Saturday. It's our anniversary). A pink pleated skirt and gold jewelry is involved for the dinner on V night, a gold sequined skirt and black blazer for that weekend. What do you think? Sound appropriate?!
Ohhhhh I absolutely adore the little red dress in your board!
i've been obsessed with all things color block lately!
colorblock sure is not new but i love it for spring. : )
